Here's my style.

Wash my hair with pert plus, use old spice body wash, and some morning burst face wash by j&j. Old Spice deodorant and polo blue cologne. I brush my teeth with crest and floss with j&j regular floss. Sony TV, Samsung monitor, Dell computer, and a logitech mouse, and broken bose headphones. I wear polo and Nautica sweaters, nautica jeans, nautica and hanes boxers, and I have about 50 pair of generic socks. I wear all t shirts especially if they are free. My green B&B sheet metal shirts get the most use because I have 3 of them. I sport the cortez for shoes or my other pumas but they are too tight so I only wear them if I need a break from the cortez. I have nike & mizuno runnings shoes and Nike bball shoes. I drive a TL but it's pretty banged up. I get to turn it in for something else in about 10 months. I like lager, not lager like yuengling, but just lager beers. I can't understand why yuengling is called "lager." Anyone who orders just a lager should be discarded from the bar for being a tool. I'll drink patron for tequila, goose for vodka, i like cap't for rum, and I will order tangeray but I've grown out of a gin and tonic phase. I don't wear a watch. That pretty much sums me up.

Weekend

So the last day I went to work was on Tues. Which meant I went to Brownies on Tues. Drove back on a sheet of ice at 2 am. Stranded on 76 until an M5 with snow tires drove us back. Went to see the family for Christmas Eve. Watched Fracture and all of season 1 in Entourage. Christmas day, saw family and got wasted off winter lagers (nice present jeff). Lost 50 playing cards with high schoolers, and other degens. Stayed up to 5 in the morning, passed out, drove back to manayunk at 11am. Slept till 3. Woke up and went to a family christmas party. Came back and went to Mad River. The brawler started a fight and was promptly kicked out while I got to watch in basic sobriety. Slept till noon, and then drove to AC. Comped rooms at the borgata so we stayed there. Started in the racebook drinking patron on the rocks for practically nothing. Ended up dropping money in either blackjack, craps, roulette, or Pai gow. Then watched the Godsend Michael Bush tear up the pathetic bucs. The birds played well. I'm not jumping on the bandwagon because I haven't been a supporter. Watched Boiler Room. Now here I am on Monday, dead day at work, typing this blog and thinking how bad I'm going to feel after this next week comes to a close. I'm going to the gym to sweat off this alcohol that possesses me to make stupid decisions.

Year End

This is the end of the year for me. Last work day (sober) till the beginning of next year. Some may try to work the 29th and 30th but this just seems impossible to me. Overall this was a really numbing year. The stock market put a financial hurt on people (me) and really demoralized the economy. This however has not prevented me from buying whatever high end alcohol or beer I wish to consume. It also has not stopped me from spending 10 dollars a drink on double rum and cokes at the bar. This is the time of the year where you should blow some cash and have a good time. I can say that this year has been entertaining for me and I'll roll through the highlights.

-Finished Atlas Shrugged in Jan and can say it was probably the best book i've read. Aside from the John Galt speech which was probably the most important part, which I decided to speed through.

- Probably lost about 5k in AC this year, but won 5k in online poker, but probably lost about 2k in sports betting. This is pretty estimated but shouldn't be so far off.

- I obviously lost cash in the market and the exact total isn't necessary because it is only depressing. Fuck Sirius.

- I think I could say that I got drunk on 51 out of 52 weekends. The one I didn't I ran a 1:19 low half marathon. That came out to be 13 6 minute miles. For someone who gets as wasted as I do, this is obviously and impressive feat. I got 177 out of 13,000+ and only lost to 14 girls. Also did the Sea Isle 10 miles in one hour five minutes. This was on the sand and difficult to run on especially after getting smashed the night before. Both of these will be on my annual runs.

I also went here and saw this person, but all in all this was a pretty lame year. I learned that I absolutely hate Mondays. Easily the worst day. 09' will be better I assure you. This will be the year of tc. I'm expected big things. The next entry will document goals of 09' along with ways to make it happen.

bball

Tonight we had a bball game at philmont. We started off down a quick 10, scoring 3 points in the first 10 minutes. We finished the half down 11 or so. After a barrage of scoring we cut it to 3 with a minute left. CK4 had a golden opportunity to tie it, but came up a bit short, literally. We ended up losing by 6 or so but it was a good run against a good team. Next game is 1/7.

I watched Catch me if you Can, Braveheart, and Rain Main. All were good movies. Catch me if you can was practically flawless. The story was good, acting was good, and entertaining throughout. Braveheart I watched for the first time. Obviously a very good movie with good values and cool battle scenes. Rain man is a good movie. The acting is tremendous by Hoffman. How he plays an autistic guy is just beyond me. I'm not sure the movie deserves 4 stars but it was entertaining.

Music Post

Here's the evolution of music in my life.

I boycotted music until about the 6th grade. The first album I ever bought was Dookie by Green Day. I listened to that along with Weezer's Blue Album, Nirvana Nevermind, and various Beatles anthology's. Radio stations of Y 100 and 97.5 pst were the best stations to listen to. As I progressed to high school I turned into an unusal phase for every white youth, the rap phase.

Somebody sold me 2 used CD's, Eminem The Slim Shady LP and DR Dre's 2001. These two CD's produced some of the best tracks ever. Guilty Conscience and Still DRE owned obviously. These showed me various artists like Tupac, biggie, snoop, and nas. Other than the big names, I liked cash money's juvenile and lil wayne, although now I find lil wayne's tracks a complete disgrace. I liked Bone Thugs, outcast, *cough* nelly, memphis bleek, and dmx. I listened to way more than these but this gives the general idea. Stand out songs regular cat by memphis bleek , flow by naughty by nature, I got five on it (remix) by luniz, westside by tq, and follow me now by juvenile. I could honestly come up with hundreds more tracks that are all quality music. I know i'm white but I think I have tons of quality songs from this era. This actually brings back forgotten high school memories and I can't take credit for finding all these songs.

So I progress to college still in my rap phase. I got into 50 cent and similar artists of the time. However I met a kid in college who introduced me to classic rock. I started listening to Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John (tell me mona lisa and mad hatters & rocket man aren't awesome songs) , bowie, allman brothers, the beatles, & boston just to name a few. Obviously I can't forget the doors, the dead, the clash, the eagles, Tom Petty, kansas, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the stones. This was my kind of music. I downloaded thousands of songs through Kazaa and started to learn the joy of this music. Anytime I hear Limelight or spirit of radio by RUSH it's just great. I liked roundabout by yes, werewolf of london by warren zevon, and do it again by Steely dan. Once again I have tons of more songs in this era, but lets move on. I could listen to billy joel for hours.

Another friend introduced me to another kind of music once I had enough of classic rock. Bring in the 80's and the new wave. New order, OMD, Depeche mode, tears for fears, hall & oates, genesis, U2, & duran duran. Songs like bizarre love triangle and regret by new order, enjoy the silence by depeche mode, pale shelter and mad world by tears for fears, out of touch by hall & oates, turn it on again by genesis, and ordinary world by duran duran were mainstream classics. The look of love & be near me by ABC, if you leave by OMD (listen to it if you haven't), ride like the wind & sailing by christopher cross (sadly), skateaway & sultans of swing (seriously fucking awesome), life during wartime by the talking heads, valerie by steve winwood, and if you were here by thompson twins (ending song in sixteen candles - credit shady). Towards the end of college I got real into the kinks & styx, different genre I know but the same time period.

Let's fast forward to present day. I started listening to more alternative like Radiohead, the smiths, sublime, the chilli peppers, pearl jam, and the killers. I like Radio 104.5 and listen to Sirius when i'm in the car stations 47 & 54 predominantly. I also know all the main stream crap they play by rhianna, brittany, and ne-yo. I don't listen to it so much because I like it but just to be in touch with modern music trends. However, I think love story by taylor swift, rehab by rhianna, and just dance by lady gaga are good. I know I have issues.

If you read this far I'd be surprised. It's a lot of music variety and i'm in no way an expert on the subject. I have listened to a lot of songs and think I have a good taste in music. In future entry's I'll put together a list of songs that I like that most people would never consider listening to.

I actually feel as if this entry isn't anywhere near as complete as it could be. I'm looking through my songs and I short changed artists like gin blossoms, clapton, elo, the who, and incubus. Not to mention all the one hit wonder songs I have. This won't be my last music entry but it's a start.

Update

Our bball team won by 20 last Wed. The other team had too many players and we, not me, shot the lights out. I shot 1-2 from the foul line which means I have to go 1-16 to improve from my Summer Oreland performance. I'm really not that bad but there is denying the facts. Next game is this Wed against some supposedly good hatters.

I was pretty lame this weekend and watched a lot of movies. I don't see movies in the theatre anymore so i've been a bit, okay alot, behind on good flicks. Here's the rundown of what I watched and then i'll write what I thought about it, in order of when I watched it. Dark Knight, Grosse Pointe Blank, Edward Scissorhands, I am Legend, Crash, Air Force One, Almost Famous, the Green Mile, and the Departed. Here's my mini review.

Dark Knight - Decent, Joker was entertaining, story was ehh, but all in all it was enjoyable. 7.5/10
Grosse Point Blank - I liked Cusack, I liked the 80's music and the reunion, I liked the story. 8/10
Edward Scissorhands - Good acting by depp, Winona is a hot teen minus her ugly bangs, the story was slow to start but in the end Edward grew on me. 9/10
I am legend - Pointless with decent CGI. I like Will Smith but this was just lackluster 2/10
Crash - People say how good it is, I didn't. I thought it was awful and it's themes meant nothing to me. I don't care how the characters interact. 3/10
Air Force One- Avg action, wouldn't watch again. 4/10
Almost Famous - Great music, Great insight into the lifestyle, I thought it was great all around. I don't think everyone would like this due to how much you like the classic rock of the era. Kate Hudson shows her tits but there's nothing to see there. 9/10
The Green Mile - It was 3 hours long... Still I thought the acting was solid throughout and I found it watchable. Wild Bill easily the best character. 7/10
The Departed - Nice thriller with good twists. Solid acting. Nice ending. 8/10

I can't explain why I get into these phases. Sometimes it's reading, sometimes it's poker, sometimes it's investing. Now it's bball and movies. Just keeping it busy.

I'll make an extensive music post in the future. I bought the Killers CD. 10 tracks, too short. I would even knock it down to 8 tracks because I've listened to Human enough and track 10 is awful. The 0ther 8 songs are superior to other music and I find them extremely worth the measly 10 bucks I spent.

Until next time.

Monday Dec 1st

This post was spurred by the sole comment.

Every once in a while someone I would never expect to read this says something about it, so at least I know I have an audience bigger than 1.

I put 100 dollars in Bodog on Saturday. I bet 100 on Alabama who covered, then 190 on Oklahoma who covered, then 160 on the Giants who covered. I proceeded to lose 200 on an over 40 on the pats steelers game but I won 100 on the Steelers +2. So I finished up 265 after a barrage of action. I'm quite possibly the worst sports bettor in history and this was my first wager in about 3 weeks. I'm considering taking the profit... or putting it all on the Texans tonight because it just seems like one of those triple reverse psychology lines. (Now you see why I suck)

I bought BIDU and GE today on a nice market downturn. Most people are scared to death of this market but I look at it as a tremendous buying opportunity. As long as you pick stocks that aren't going to go busto, it's just a rough patch in history. I've made errors in the past picking companies that have far too much debt, (SIRIUS) for this economy. Although, I just bought 1250 more shares of Sirius at 17 cents a share. I figure it's a good strategy to avg my cost down because it's so cheap that if I blow another 200 dollars because the company goes bankrupt, it won't ruin me. I refuse to be effected by the daily swings and just hold on to the notion that this will pass. Buffet quotes, "“Occasional outbreaks of those two super-contagious diseases, fear and greed, will forever occur in the investment community. The timing of these epidemics is equally unpredictable, both as to duration and degree. Therefore we never try to anticipate the arrival or departure of either. We simply attempt to be fearful when others are greedy and to be greedy only when others are fearful.”

Samuel Adams Winter Lager is back in season so that's obviously good. Probably my favorite beer for the money as it's 5.8 % alcohol content. If anyone suggests a better beer, I'm all ears.

I started reading the Harry Bosch novels by Michael Connelly and am half way through the first book. So far so good but I'll be looking for another book as my poker career has run cold. I'm not really losing, just not winning, so I feel like I have to spend my time in other manners.

The bball league starts Dec 10th so that should be some form of entertainment during the week. Other than that, the winter has started and the coldness has begun. As much as I hate the cold, the feeling of going to bed when it's cold out and waking up warm are awesome to start and end each day with, it's the in between those times that sucks.
